KITS MUN 2024 Inaugurated: Promoting Global Diplomacy and Critical Thinking
Warangal: The Kakatiya Institute of Technology, Science (KITS), Warangal, witnessed the commencement of the Model United Nations 2024 (KITS MUN 2024) at its campus auditorium. The event, organized by the Literary Club and Student Activity Center (SAC), kicked off with a ceremonial lamp lighting by the Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. K. Venumadhav.
Running from March 22nd to 24th, the KITS MUN 2024 gathers students to simulate the workings of the United Nations, assigning them roles as delegates representing various nations. These delegates engage in deliberations aimed at addressing real-world issues alongside national and state-level policies and perspectives, as elucidated by Prof. K. Venumadhav.
The inauguration ceremony garnered praise from esteemed guests, including former Rajya Sabha Member and KITSW Governing Body Chairman, Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer Shri. P. Narayana Reddy, and Husnabad Constituency MLA & KITSW Additional Secretary Vodithala Sateesh Kumar. They commended the organizers for their efforts in orchestrating a successful event.
Addressing attendees, Prof. K. Venumadhav emphasized the significance of the students' research focus on the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict and its humanitarian ramifications, particularly stressing the call for a ceasefire. He lauded the students for delving into complex global issues, showcasing readiness for advanced academic challenges.
The event's significance extended beyond research, as highlighted by Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. V. Shankar. Participating students gain exposure to structured speech delivery, honing critical communication skills crucial for their academic and professional growth. Prof. Shankar underscored the invaluable experience gained through Model UN participation, aiding students in future endeavors.
Notably, KITS MUN 2024 attracted participants from various institutions, including Ashiqa Aanam from Warangal Public School and Hasitha Kurupath from NMIMS Hyderabad, reflecting the event's broad appeal and commitment to nurturing diplomatic acumen among youth.
Heading the event are Secretary Generals P. Jayasurya and Tanisha Aanam, alongside other key figures including Director General Uday Damerla, Head of OC Sucharith Sharma, Charge D'affaires CH. Lekhana, and Chief of Staff B. Preethika.
The inauguration witnessed the presence of esteemed faculty members, administrative heads, and over 260 enthusiastic students, signifying a collective commitment to fostering global awareness and critical thinking among the academic community.
KITS MUN 2024 sets the stage for three days of rigorous debate, diplomacy, and collaborative problem-solving, embodying the spirit of global engagement and intellectual growth.
