The Central Library at Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal, held a one-day training program for Master of Library and Information Science (MLISc) students from Kakatiya University on July 12, 2024. This event aimed to provide practical knowledge and skills in the field of library science.
Professor M. Sreelatha, Chairwoman of the KITS Library Committee, emphasized that the training covered various areas of the library, including the Reference Section, Book Bank Section, Digital Library, Stack Area, Circulation Counter, and Back Volumes.
Dr. K. Indrasena Reddy, the Librarian, delivered a PowerPoint presentation highlighting essential library science skills. He focused on the effective use of the Digital Library, e-journals, and remote access facilities to help students stay updated in their field and benefit readers.
During the practical session, students learned about book classification and cataloging, recording book numbers in the accession register, and managing data in library software. They were also trained to use the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) for quick book searches.
The program was attended by Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, HoD of ECI Prof. K. Shivani, Dr. M. Raju, E. Suresh, Assistant Librarian M. Niranjan, Dr. M. Arun Kumar, P. Sumalatha, T. Raju, and Head of PSD & PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary. The participation of KU library science students contributed to the program's success.
