The Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), Warangal Centre, organised Engineers Day celebrations on September 15, 2026, to mark the 165th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
The programme was organised under the leadership of ICI Warangal Centre Chairman Engineer K. Raja Prabhakar, along with Secretary Engineer K. Veeraiah, Treasurer Architect G. Ravinder and members of the Managing Committee.
Speaking on the occasion, Engineer K. Raja Prabhakar recalled the contributions of Sir M. Visvesvaraya as an engineer, statesman and nation builder. He highlighted Visvesvaraya’s message, “The way to build a nation is to build a good citizen,” and said engineers have an important responsibility in developing sustainable infrastructure.
Prof. P. Rathish Kumar, Deputy Director, NIT Warangal, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and Technical Speaker. He delivered a technical presentation on “The Future of Concrete: Low Carbon & Emerging Technologies.” His presentation covered sustainable construction practices and emerging technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the concrete and construction sectors.
As part of the celebrations, the ICI Warangal Centre felicitated engineering professionals for their contributions to the profession. Prof. P. Rathish Kumar was recognised for his contribution to academics, Engineer M. Satyanarayana for his contribution to industry, and Dr. Syed Riyaz, who recently completed his doctorate in Civil Engineering, for his contribution to research.
More than 100 practising engineers and architects, along with academicians, industry professionals and ICI members, participated in the programme.
A video presentation on the life and achievements of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was also screened during the event, highlighting his contributions to engineering and nation-building.
The celebrations focused on engineering excellence, innovation, sustainable construction and the role of engineering professionals in society.
