The Indira Souragiri Jal Vikasam Project, an innovative initiative launched by the Congress government under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has emerged as a flagship development effort in Telangana. The project is being implemented with high priority, especially in Nagarkurnool district—the native district of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who was born in Kondareddy Pally.
Treating the project as a matter of personal pride, the Chief Minister is committed to transforming the lives of the local tribal and farming communities. During his visit, CM Revanth Reddy personally interacted with women farmers, even calling some of them by name, and inquired about their lives and farming activities—reflecting his deep personal connection with the people of the region.
Arriving via a special helicopter from Begumpet Airport, CM Revanth Reddy and his team were warmly welcomed at Macharam by Nagarkurnool Collector Badavath Santosh and senior officials with floral bouquets. They later offered prayers at the local Seetharama Anjaneya Swamy temple, where temple priests received them with traditional honours.

₹12,600 Crore ‘Nallamala Declaration’ Unveiled
In a grand public meeting at Macharam, CM Revanth Reddy released the Nallamala Declaration worth ₹12,600 crore aimed at uplifting tribal communities. Before this, he also flagged off the pilot phase of the Indira Souragiri Jal Vikasam Scheme.
He recalled how the Nallamala forest region was once considered backward and forgotten. Now, with the people’s support, he was proud to lead its transformation as Chief Minister. He praised leaders from the region including Mahendranath, former Union Minister Jaipal Reddy, and Telangana’s first CM Burgula Ramakrishna Rao. “As a son of Nallamala, I take pride in continuing their legacy,” he said.
Free Solar Pumps, Solar Power to Homes in 100 Days
Revanth Reddy announced that solar pump sets will be provided free of cost to all farmers in the Achampet constituency within 100 days. He also directed the district collector to ensure solar electricity is installed in tribal homes for both household and agricultural needs.
He shared a touching moment when a tribal woman named Alivelu discussed her awareness of horticulture, stating that such moments reflect the progress being made.
Achampet to Become a Model Constituency

The CM reiterated his commitment to turning Achampet into a model for the entire state. “Once people from Palamuru were called for labor work everywhere. Today, we want them to be proud landowners and entrepreneurs,” he said.
He stressed that both he and MLA Vamsikrishna share equal responsibility for the development of the region. Special plans and budgets will be allocated for local employment and education.
Support for Farmers and Revival of Paddy Cultivation
Revanth Reddy took a dig at former Chief Ministers who discouraged paddy farming. “Earlier they said growing paddy is like putting a noose around the neck. We are giving a ₹500 bonus per quintal for fine rice varieties,” he said.
He highlighted that ration shops now distribute fine rice, which has become a source of pride for poor families. “Farmers grow fine rice, and we bring it back to people’s homes as ration rice,” he explained.
Social Welfare Schemes and Women Empowerment
Revanth Reddy spoke about flagship welfare schemes like Gruha Jyothi and Mahalakshmi, benefiting millions. He proudly claimed that RTC buses are now owned and run by women, helping them become entrepreneurs.
“We used to think solar was only for Adani and Ambani. Today, we’re giving it to our tribal brothers and sisters, and even women,” he said. He mentioned initiatives like petrol bunks and shopping spaces near Shilparamam in Hyderabad reserved for women, enabling them to sell their products and compete with corporate giants.
“Our goal is to make one crore women millionaires,” Revanth declared. “If a woman becomes financially strong, her family and community grow with her.”
Record Government Jobs in First Year
In just one year of governance, the Revanth Reddy-led government has provided 60,000 government jobs and opened up private job opportunities. Vice Chancellors have been appointed for 12 state universities, and Young India Integration Schools are being set up in every constituency.
Telangana Declared No.1 State by Centre
He also highlighted that Telangana has been ranked number one by the central government in areas like law and order, tax collection, and investor confidence. Revanth said that international companies are now looking at Hyderabad as a top destination for business.
He made it clear that those who used to mock Palamuru people as unfit to rule are now proven wrong. “We know how to build roads, clean drains, and govern. We’ve shown this in just 1.5 years,” he asserted.
Congress’s Legacy and Indira Gandhi’s Inspiration
Referring to Congress’s history, he said the party gave 25 lakh acres of land to the poor. “Before Indiramma’s rule, people did bonded labor. It was she who gave lands and dignity to the poor,” he said, adding that even today, tribals hold Indira Gandhi close to their hearts.
That’s why the new water scheme was named ‘Indira Souragiri Jal Vikasam’, in her honor.
Future Plans and Special Allocations
Revanth Reddy announced ₹119 crore for self-help groups in Achampet and released a book on Tribal Welfare Schemes. Collector Badavath Santosh presented mementos to public representatives.
The project, led by Tribal Welfare Secretary Dr. Sharath IAS, Mannanoor Project Officer Rohit IFS, Additional Director Sarveshwar Reddy, and GM Shankar Rao, was praised for successfully transforming barren tribal lands into productive ones using solar-powered water supply.
Revanth Reddy concluded the event by stating, “We will make Telangana a role model for the nation. For that, I need everyone’s blessings.”
