Hyderabad:
The first-ever Telangana Women Police Officers’ State-Level Conference commenced grandly on Wednesday at the Police Academy in Hyderabad. The three-day conference was inaugurated by State Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Women Welfare & Child Development, Dr. Anasuya Seethakka, as the chief guest.
Goals of the Conference
Police Academy Director, Ms. Abhilasha Bisht, IPS, explained that women officers from the rank of constable to DGP will take part in group discussions. The insights and recommendations from these sessions will later be compiled into a report and submitted to the Chief Minister.
Minister Seethakka’s Remarks
In her address, Minister Seethakka highlighted that:
• The government will always support women’s welfare,
• Women officers should work with dedication, discipline, and dignity,
• They must demonstrate courage and determination while adapting to challenges.
She suggested establishing a dedicated DGP cell for women police issues, sending a study team to states like Tamil Nadu to adopt best practices, and introducing counselling facilities to reduce stress and improve health among women officers.
Participation and Felicitations
Around 400 officers from 90 police stations across the state, along with officials from prisons and forest departments, are attending the three-day program, with residential facilities provided at the academy.
Madhya Pradesh DIG Vineet, Telangana Additional DGPs Ms. Swathi Lakra, Ms. Bala Nagadevi, and Ms. Charu Sinha, were also present and were felicitated by the Academy Director.
Deputy Director Ms. G. Kavitha gave an inspiring introduction about the dignitaries, while Deputy Director Mr. Venkateswarlu delivered the vote of thanks.
