Warangal, July 26: The Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science (KITS), Warangal, hosted the Alumni Meet and Silver Jubilee Reunion of the Class of 2000 on Saturday at its campus auditorium. Over 320 alumni from across the globe, now working as engineers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts, participated in the celebrations.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. C. Sridhar Reddy, President of KITSW Alumni National Executive Council (NEC), who lit the ceremonial lamp. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “KITSW has a strong alumni base of more than 27,000 members globally. Our alumni network actively supports mentorship, internships, innovation, and employment opportunities for young engineers.”




Former Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of KITS Warangal, Capt. V. Lakshmikanth Rao, addressed the gathering and referred to the Class of 2000 as the “Star Batch (Y2K).” He encouraged alumni to share their knowledge, career guidance, and values with current students. “Growth is a continuous process. Our alumni, who have become successful CEOs, scientists, and engineers, are a source of pride for the institution,” he said.
KITS Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy highlighted that the alumni have contributed ₹2.7 crore in financial support so far. Notably, alumnus Mr. Y. Jagan Reddy established an advanced technical lab worth ₹2 crore. He added that seminars, workshops, industrial visits, and startup support are being organized with alumni collaboration to enhance learning for UG and PG students.
The reunion witnessed participation from alumni residing in countries like the USA, Australia, Singapore, and Canada. A total of 200 international alumni and 131 from across India registered for the event.
The Y2K alumni batch also honored their former teachers with shawls and mementos. Those felicitated included Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, Registrar Prof. M. Komal Reddy, Administrative Officer Prof. P. Ramesh Reddy, and several department heads and retired faculty members.
The program was attended by KITSW Registrar Prof. M. Komal Reddy, Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. K. Venumadhav, Head of Civil Engineering Dept. Dr. M. Sreekanth, Alumni Affairs In-Charge Dr. O. Anjaneyulu, PR Officer Dr. D. Prabhakara Chari, faculty from various departments, staff members, and National Executive Council members of the KITSW Alumni Association.
Through such engagements, KITS Warangal continues to strengthen its academic environment and industry readiness with the active involvement of its proud alumni.
