Kondareddypally, the native village of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Achampet constituency of Nagarkurnool district, is set to be recognized as a 100% solar-powered village.
It will become the second such village in India and the first in South India to achieve this status.
Under the initiative implemented by TG REDCO, the government has sanctioned a solar power project worth ₹10.53 crore. The project covers 514 houses and 11 government buildings. Of these, 480 houses have already been provided with rooftop solar panels, each with a capacity of 3 KW. Government buildings have been equipped with 60 KW solar systems. In total, the installed capacity stands at 1,500 KW.
Another 34 families, currently living in mud houses, will receive solar panels once their Indiramma housing constructions are completed.
The project funding includes ₹3.56 crore as central government subsidy and ₹4.09 crore through CSR funds from M/s Premier Energies. Another ₹2.59 crore has been used for infrastructure development.
Each house is expected to generate around 360 units of power per month. Surplus power, after domestic use, is being supplied to the grid at a rate of ₹5.25 per unit, under an agreement with the electricity distribution company.
In September, Kondareddypally exported nearly one lakh units of power to the grid, earning villagers around ₹5 lakh in a single month.
