BMW Group Sees Significant Growth in Electric and Premium Segment Sales
**Munich** – BMW Group has reported a strong performance in the first half of 2024, with substantial growth in its fully-electric vehicle sales and upper premium segment. The company delivered 179,557 fully electric vehicles, marking a 34.1% increase compared to the same period last year.
Overall, the BMW brand saw a 2.3% rise in sales, with 1,096,486 units sold globally. This growth helped the BMW brand outperform traditional competitors and gain significant market share, particularly in Europe. Total worldwide deliveries for BMW Group, including BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce, reached 1,213,359 units.
Jochen Goller, BMW AG Board member responsible for Customer, Brands, and Sales, attributed this success to the company’s attractive product portfolio and the dedication of BMW Group employees. “Despite a challenging market environment, we increased sales for the BMW brand in the first half of the year,” Goller said.
### Upper Premium and Electric Models Drive Growth
Models from BMW’s upper premium segment are gaining popularity alongside fully electric models. The BMW 7 Series experienced a 22% increase in sales, while the BMW X1 and 3 Series also saw strong growth. BMW M GmbH continued to perform well, introducing its first M5 high-performance sedan with an electrified drivetrain in June and achieving a 5.1% increase in sales with 99,517 units sold.
MINI brand sales totaled 114,054 vehicles in the first half of the year, despite ongoing model changeovers. New models like the MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman, along with the market launch of the MINI Aceman, are expected to drive further growth.
Rolls-Royce delivered 2,819 vehicles, highlighted by the launch of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II. BMW Motorrad handed over 113,072 motorcycles and scooters globally.
### Positive Outlook for the Second Half of 2024
BMW Group remains optimistic about the second half of 2024, supported by the full availability of new models such as the BMW 5 Series and the first BMW i5 Touring. The company continues to offer a variety of drivetrain technologies to meet diverse customer preferences worldwide.
