BMW has just unveiled its all-new R 12 nineT and R 12 motorcycles in India. These bikes are set to hit the roads in September 2024, arriving as completely built-up units (CBU). With prices starting at INR 19,90,000 for the R 12 and INR 20,90,000 for the R 12 nineT, they promise a blend of classic design and modern features.

### A Blend of Classic and Modern

The R 12 nineT is a retro roadster with a purist design, while the R 12 is a casual cruiser. Both bikes come with a 2-cylinder Boxer engine with a capacity of 1,170 cc. The craftsmanship is evident with features like a classic trellis frame and a flatly arranged shock absorber.

### Packed with Features

Standard features include Headlight Pro, Keyless Ride, and multiple riding modes. According to Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, these bikes are aimed at riders who appreciate the original character of motorcycles and want a dynamic riding experience.

### Customization and Comfort

BMW offers a variety of color schemes for both models. The R 12 nineT is available in Blackstorm metallic, brushed aluminium with Night Black, and San Remo Green metallic. The R 12 comes in Blackstorm metallic, Avus Silver metallic, and Aventurine Red metallic.

### Financial Options and Warranty

BMW Financial Services India provides flexible financial solutions, allowing customers to get loans approved before delivery. All bikes come with a three-year unlimited-kilometer warranty, with options to extend it to the fourth and fifth years. Road-Side Assistance is also available.

### Technical Specs and Design

Both bikes feature an air/oil-cooled boxer engine. The R 12 nineT produces 109 hp at 7,000 rpm and 115 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm. The R 12 generates 95 hp at 6,500 rpm and 110 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm.

The frame is a newly developed tubular bridge steel spaceframe, which reduces weight and gives a cleaner appearance. Both models feature a "Twin Pipe" exhaust system and a combination of upside-down telescopic forks with a 45 mm slider tube diameter for the front suspension.

### Safety and Control

Safety features include BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and engine drag torque control. Both models also come with standard Tyre Pressure Control.

### Riding Modes

The R 12 nineT offers "Rain," "Road," and "Dynamic" riding modes, while the R 12 has "Roll" and "Rock" modes, allowing riders to tailor their experience.

### Optional Extras

Optional packages include Hill Start Control Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, heated grips, and cruise control. The Option 719 “Aluminium” Style package for the R 12 nineT adds a traditional and dark look with a solid Racing red frame. The R 12 can also be customized with the Option 719 seat and design option exhaust system.
