**KITS Warangal Hosts Anti-Drug Sensitization Program**


**Warangal, August 1, 2024** - The Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS) in Warangal hosted an "Anti-Drug Sensitization Programme" on Thursday in collaboration with the Police Commissionerate Warangal and the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGNAB).
The event, held at the KITS Warangal auditorium, aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use among students.



The Chief Guest, Commissioner of Police, Warangal,  Ambar Kishore Jha, IPS, praised KITS Warangal for its efforts in maintaining a drug-free campus. Highlighting a troubling trend, he noted that the percentage of young people using drugs at least once a week had increased from 16% in 2021 to 23% in 2022. He emphasized the critical role of youth in building a drug-free society and urged them to adopt healthy practices instead of turning to drugs, alcohol, or excessive use of electronic devices.

"Students are the key partners in our mission to eradicate drug use under the Telangana government's initiative," Jha said. "You are the torchbearers of change for a drug-free Telangana."



Former Rajya Sabha member and KITSW Chairman Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy, and former MLA and KITSW Additional Secretary Vodithala Sateesh Kumar commended the KITSW anti-drug committee for organizing the event. They emphasized the program's importance for student welfare and praised its successful execution.

KITSW Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, in his presidential remarks, stressed the detrimental impact of drugs and narcotics on creativity and attitude. He encouraged students to focus on becoming well-rounded individuals and contributing positively to the nation. "Drugs destroy potential," he said. "Students should cultivate skills that will help them thrive, particularly in the field of technology."

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including DCP Central Zone, IPS Shaik Saleema; ACP Dr. M. Jithendher Reddy; ACP, TG NAB, Saidulu; and Station House Officer, KU Police Station, Sanjeev. The KITSW Anti-Drug Committee, led by Convener Prof. K. Sridhar, along with other members, also participated. The program saw the presence of around 400 students and staff members.
