Warangal, September 18, 2026: The Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal, hosted a grand Alumni Ruby Reunion (40 years) of the Third Batch (1982–86) at the NLR Shed Auditorium on the KITS Warangal campus on Friday.
The reunion brought together more than 120 alumni from across India and different parts of the world to celebrate four decades of friendship, professional achievements and their enduring association with their alma mater.
The programme was inaugurated by Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, former Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and Chairman of KITSW, along with special guest Prof. V. Ramagopal Rao, alumnus of the 1982–86 batch, former Director of IIT Delhi and Group Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani. Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy, KITSW Vice-President K. Deviprasad, Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, and distinguished former faculty members participated in the lamp-lighting ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. V. Ramagopal Rao underlined the importance of a strong and active alumni network in the continued development of an educational institution. He said alumni could play a significant role in supporting students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, and noted the importance of creating an endowment fund for their benefit.
He said the strong bonds maintained by alumni across different generations and geographical locations reflected the values instilled by KITSW. He called upon students and alumni to uphold the institution’s legacy through integrity, professionalism and social responsibility.
Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy highlighted the significant contribution of KITSW alumni towards the development of the present generation of students. He said alumni have been extending their support by conducting seminars and workshops on emerging technologies, facilitating industrial visits and internship opportunities, supporting startups, and helping laboratories acquire modern equipment.
He also noted that alumni have been actively involved in organising training programmes and internship opportunities aimed at improving the placement prospects of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Chairman Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, who delivered the presidential address, spoke about the rapid developments in technology and stressed the need for educational institutions and students to keep pace with emerging trends and innovations. He encouraged students to maintain self-esteem, value friendships and nurture strong relationships throughout their lives.
The reunion also witnessed the participation of several distinguished alumni and former faculty members. Among those present were Gandham Venkataiah Naidu, Director, Production Engineering Web MD, New Jersey, USA; Venkata Krishna, Chief Engineer, Irrigation Department; global entrepreneur D. Srisailam; and retired professors Prof. Ch. Sribabu, Prof. A. Srihari Rao, Prof. Sambashiva Rao, Prof. K. Raja Reddy and Prof. K. Shivani.
KITSW Registrar Prof. M. Komal Reddy, Administrative Officer Prof. P. Ramesh Reddy, Alumni Affairs and External Relations Professor-in-Charge and Head of the Civil Engineering Department Dr. M. Srikanth, Faculty-in-Charge and Associate Professor Dr. O. Anjaneyulu, PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, along with faculty and staff members, also attended the event.
The 40-year reunion served as an occasion for the alumni to reconnect with their classmates and teachers, reminisce about their campus days and reaffirm their commitment to supporting the growth of KITSW and its students.
