Warangal: A national-level student technical event, the Internal Hackathon of Smart India Hackathon-2026 (SIH-2026), was successfully organised at the Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal.
The event was jointly organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (C-i2RE) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at the Civil Seminar Hall on the KITSW campus.
Speaking on the occasion, KITSW Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy highlighted the importance of providing students with opportunities to showcase their technical skills and innovative ideas.
Dr. K. Raja Narender Reddy, Head of C-i2RE, said that the Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative aimed at providing students with a platform to find innovative solutions to pressing problems encountered in everyday life. He said such competitive platforms encourage students to develop a problem-solving mindset and contribute to product innovation.
The internal hackathon featured a wide range of themes, including Smart Automation, Fitness and Sports, Heritage and Culture, MedTech/BioTech/Health Tech, Agriculture and Food Technology, Rural Development, Smart Vehicles, Robotics and Drones, Transportation and Logistics, Blockchain and Cyber Security, Sustainable Energy, Disaster Management, Toys and Games, Space Technology, FinTech and other emerging areas.
Dr. Raja Narender Reddy said that meaningful participation and satisfaction derived from contributing innovative solutions are important outcomes of such initiatives.
Dr. P. Niranjan, Head of the Department of CSE, delivered the presidential remarks. He said the hackathon aims to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students. He highlighted the importance of student workshops, conferences and interactive sessions with successful entrepreneurs in developing entrepreneurial skills and encouraging young innovators.
Dr. P. Vijay Kumar, President of IIC, Dr. N.C. Santosh Kumar, Faculty Coordinator and SPOC, SIH and Senior Assistant Professor, CSE, and Dr. R. Rajesh, Faculty Co-Coordinator and Assistant Professor, CSE, were present.
CSE Association Student President T. Vishwath Narayana, Associate Professor and PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, along with CSE faculty members and staff, also attended the programme.
