Anti-Drug Awareness Programme Held at KITS Warangal


Warangal, Sept 17:
Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW) organized a mass awareness campaign and pledge against drug abuse at the Silver Jubilee Seminar Hall on its campus, in collaboration with the Warangal Police Commissionerate and the NSS unit of the college. The event was conducted as per the guidelines of the Government of Telangana.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, social activist and EC member of KU Warangal, Dr. K. Anitha Reddy, said KITS Warangal is setting an example as a drug-free campus. She emphasized the need for students to openly share their problems with their parents and urged them to say no to drugs. “I am not speaking as a chief guest, but as a mother for the welfare of students. Drugs destroy human lives, pushing people into crime and exploitation,” she added.
The guest of honor, Station House Officer of KU Police Station, S. Ravikumar, highlighted that character is equally important as education. He said students play a key role in shaping a drug-free society and concluded with the slogan: “Youth don’t take drugs and don’t let anyone.”
Another guest of honor, founder member of Care & Cure organisation, Dr. Acharya Ravi Kumar Veladandi, stressed the importance of discipline, physical well-being, and constructive use of youth power. He called students key partners in the national anti-drug mission.
KITSW Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, in his presidential address, warned that narcotics destroy creativity and positive thinking. He urged students to focus on building skills in computer technologies and contribute to sustainable nation-building.

In this program, Station House Officer, KU Police station, S. Ravikumar, Sub inspector, Srikanth, Administrative Officer. Prof. P. Ramesh Reddy, KITSW Anti-drug committee, Convener, Prof. K. Sridhar, other Members Dr. P. Nagarjuna Reddy, NSS programme officer, Dr. Ch. Satish Chandra, police officials, Associate Professor of Chemistry & PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary,  around 260 students and staff were present.
