Eight Arrested for Circulating Fake Currency
Warangal, May 4, 2026:
Warangal Task Force and Narsampet police jointly arrested eight persons involved in fake currency activities. Among them, three were printing counterfeit notes and circulating them in the market, while five others were cheating people by promising to convert small amounts into larger sums at a 1:3 ratio.
Police seized fake currency notes, ₹1,48,000 in cash, laptops and printers worth about ₹28 lakh, 13 mobile phones, and two cars from the accused.
The arrested persons were identified as Shaganti Kiran, Neerati Shiva, Neerati Ranjith, Gudikandula Ravi (all from Narsampet), Porika Rajkumar alias Raju (Ghanpur, Mulugu), Tanamala Rajashekar (Vemsur, Khammam), Mudurukola Yakambaram (Tatanagar, Bhuvanagiri), and Chenu Saikiran (Karakagudem mandal, Kothagudem).
East Zone DCP Ankit Kumar said that during interrogation, three accused admitted to scanning ₹100 notes and printing them using laptops and printers before circulating them as genuine currency.
The other five accused used a different method to cheat people. They demonstrated a process where original ₹500 notes were dipped in iodine solution to turn them black, and then treated with a chemical solution (sodium thiosulfate) to restore their original appearance. Using this trick, they convinced victims that black paper bundles could be converted into real currency. They then collected genuine cash from victims and escaped.
Police said the accused were involved in similar offences earlier in Ghanpur (Mulugu), Monda Market (Secunderabad), Vemsur, Kothagudem, KUC and Subedari areas, and had been jailed before. Recently, they carried out frauds in Chatrinaka (Hyderabad) and Narsampet.
The Commissioner of Police appreciated Task Force ACP Madhusudhan, Narsampet ACP Ravinder Reddy, Inspector Babulal, Inspector Srinivas, AEO Salman Pasha, and the police teams for their work in solving the case.
