A major real estate deal has been sealed in Hyderabad. Auro Realty, the real estate arm of Aurobindo Group, has purchased the iconic Taj Banjara Hotel for ₹315 crore.
Spread across 16,645 sq. yards, the luxury property has a built-up area of 1.22 lakh sq. ft. with over 270 rooms. The transaction was reportedly completed on October 31, with a stamp duty payment of ₹17.3 crore.
For the last two years, the hotel faced issues due to unpaid property taxes, leading GHMC to temporarily lock it earlier this year. It was reopened after partial dues were cleared.
Auro Realty has not yet disclosed its plans for the newly acquired property. Banjara Hills, known as one of Hyderabad’s most premium localities, is home to luxury residences, corporate offices, and high-end retail outlets. Many prominent personalities live here.
Real estate prices in Banjara Hills have been rising steadily in 2025. According to Cushman & Wakefield, prices have increased by around 8%, with per-square-foot rates now in the ₹12,000–₹15,000 range.
In another major deal earlier this month, WeWork India leased 1.75 lakh sq. ft. of space in Skyview 20 Tech Park, HITEC City, for five years, with a starting monthly rent of ₹1.72 crore. Notably, two floors from this space were sub-leased to JP Morgan Services India for ₹4.38 crore monthly rent.
