Warangal, October 17:
The Department of Physical Education at Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal, is hosting the Inter-Collegiate Tournaments for Men 2025–26 (Phase-I) under Kakatiya University, at the Open Dais and Play Fields on the KITS campus, from October 17 to 18, 2025.
The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. K. Pratap Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University, Warangal, in the presence of the Guest of Honour, Vodithala Satish Kumar, former MLA of Husnabad constituency and Additional Secretary of KITSW. The Sports Board Secretary of KU, Prof. Y. Venkaiah, Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, and Administrative Officer Prof. P. Ramesh Reddy also participated in the inauguration.
On this occasion, KITSW Chairman Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao (former Rajya Sabha Member) and Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy conveyed their congratulations and best wishes to all participating players.
Speaking at the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Pratap Reddy appreciated KITS Warangal for maintaining high standards in both academics and sports. He said sports help students develop physical fitness, mental balance, and team spirit. He encouraged the players not to be disheartened by defeat but to learn from it and continue improving.
In his presidential address, Shri Vodithala Satish Kumar emphasized that physical education is a vital part of student life and higher education. He noted that KITS Warangal provides extensive sports facilities, including an indoor stadium, gymnasium, and 25 acres of outdoor playfields for games like football, volleyball, cricket, and tennis. “Winning and losing are part of the game — the true spirit lies in participation,” he added.




Guest of Honour Prof. Y. Venkaiah remarked that sports are an essential tool for building health and discipline. “Playing itself is more important than winning. Physical exercise helps students become healthy citizens,” he said.
Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy informed that around 750 players from 31 colleges affiliated with Kakatiya University are taking part in the tournament. He encouraged students to take inspiration from athletes such as Virat Kohli, Neeraj Chopra, Vishwanathan Anand, PV Sindhu, and PT Usha.
The inaugural event was attended by KU NSS Coordinator Prof. E. Narayana, Registrar Prof. M. Komal Reddy, KITSW AO Prof. P. Ramesh Reddy, HoD PE Dr. M. Srinivas Reddy, PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, faculty, staff, and 750 players representing 31 colleges under Kakatiya University.
