The Department of Physical Sciences at Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal, successfully organized a week-long Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “Quantum Enabled Science and Technology-QUEST-2024” from May 20th to May 24th, 2024. The event, held in collaboration with the Centre for Training and Learning (CTL) at NIT Warangal, culminated in a valedictory ceremony on May 24th, graced by Prof. T. Kishore Kumar, Professor of ECE and Head of CTL at NIT Warangal.

During the valedictory session, Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Former Rajya Sabha member and Chairman of KITSW, along with Treasurer  P. Narayana Reddy and  Additional Secretary Vodithala Sateesh Kumar, praised the Department of Physical Sciences for successfully conducting QUEST-2024. They highlighted the program’s impact on faculty and researchers worldwide.

Prof. T. Kishore Kumar emphasized the program's success in achieving its objective of creating a robust technical platform. He stressed the importance of quantum mechanics in developing modern smart and digital technologies, such as computers, laptops, and mobile phones. Prof. Kumar urged educators to enhance their teaching skills and understanding of quantum science and technology, noting the participants' enthusiasm for upskilling.

He further discussed the significant role of nanomaterials in current engineering and technological applications, including sunscreen, air purifiers, electrochemical sensors, biosensors, quantum dots, quantum computing, solar cells, and thin films.

KITSW Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, in his presidential remarks, underscored the FDP's role as a platform for sharing and learning innovative skills in quantum technologies. He emphasized the program's goal of upskilling faculty to ultimately benefit the student community.

Prof. Reddy encouraged participants to apply their newly acquired skills and knowledge in both research and classroom settings.

The event was attended by KITSW Registrar Prof. M. Komal Reddy, various deans and department heads, the convenor of the FDP and Head of the Department of Physical Sciences Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, FDP Coordinators Dr. Ch. Sateesh Chandra and Dr. Bunty Roy, as well as faculty members from the PS Department, including Dr. T. Madhukar Reddy, Dr. H. Ramesh Babu, Dr. N. Maramu, Dr. K. Rajendra Prasad, Dr. V. Prashanth Kumar, Dr. P. Srinivas Rao, Dr. D. Madhavi Latha, Dr. A. N. Mallika, Dr. M. Ranadheer Kumar, Dr. M. Gopi Krishna, Dr. E. Kalyan Rao, Dr. G. Sridhar, Dr. D. Praveena, and Dr. V. Sunil Kumar. Sixty faculty participants from around the globe actively engaged in the program.
