KITS Warangal Hosts Orientation Program for B.Tech First-Year Students


Warangal, August 22, 2024 - Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal, kicked off the academic year 2024-25 with an orientation program for its newly admitted B.Tech. first-year students. The event took place across five venues on the KITS Warangal campus, including the Auditorium, Silver Jubilee Seminar Hall, New Seminar Hall, Civil Seminar Hall, and Mechanical Seminar Hall.

In his address, Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy emphasized the importance of becoming industry-ready engineers and well-rounded individuals. He urged the students to incorporate more discipline into their lives, focus on their studies, and make the most of the opportunities provided by the institute.



Prof. Reddy also unveiled the academic year plan, titled the "Almanac for AY 2024-25," and announced that regular classes for the first-year B.Tech students would begin on August 23, 2024. Additionally, a Student Induction Program (SIP) is scheduled from August 23 to September 2, 2024, to help students transition smoothly into their academic journey.

The event was graced by the presence of former Rajya Sabha MP and KITSW Chairman Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer Sri P. Narayana Reddy, and other members of the management, who extended their congratulations and best wishes to the new students for a successful academic career.

Highlighting the institute's commitment to holistic student development, Prof. Reddy introduced a new curriculum under the Undergraduate Rules and Regulations-2024 (URR-24), aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). This competency-focused, outcome-based curriculum aims to nurture innovation, incubation, research, and entrepreneurship (i2RE) among students. He stressed the importance of converting knowledge into practical skills and encouraged students to embrace self-motivation and discipline to achieve success.

Prof. Reddy proudly announced that 419 students secured placements during the academic year 2023-24, with 80% of non-CS/IT students successfully placed. He emphasized the significance of programming skills, communication abilities, and expertise in emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, cybersecurity, and blockchain in enhancing employability.

Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. K. Venumadhav, outlined the primary objective of the orientation program: to introduce students to the faculty, state-of-the-art laboratories, and classrooms. He highlighted the institute's commitment to providing industry-relevant training, workshops, and seminars, aimed at equipping students with the skills necessary to excel in the modern engineering landscape. The institute also boasts extensive sports facilities, including an indoor stadium and gymnasium, to support the physical well-being of students.

During the program, heads of various engineering departments, all the deans, dean academic affairs Prof. K. Vnumadhav, Registrar Prof. M. Komal Reddy, Controller of examinations, Prof. V. Rajagopal, dean P&E, Prof. L. Sudheer Reddy, IQAC, chairman, Prof. C. Venkatesh, Internships and MoUs Cell Professor in-charge, Prof. G. Raghotham Reddy, dean SA, Prof. M. Srilatha, associate dean M. Narsimha Rao, programme Coordinators & HoD of PS, Dr.H. Ramesh Babu, HoD of M&H Dr. K. Shivashankar, faculty in-charges for PG and UG courses: Dr. P. Prabhakar Rao, Dr. R. Srikanth &  PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary,  students and their parents about 2000 members were present at five venues of KITSW campus in the two successive sessions.
