CPI Maoist Commander Surrenders Before Warangal Police

Warangal, [Date] – A key member of the banned CPI Maoist party, Vanjam Keshe, who served as the commander of the protection team for Central Committee member Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy, also known as Kosa, has surrendered before Warangal Police Commissioner Ambar Kishore Jha.

According to police sources, Keshe hails from Rasapalli village in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. Her father, Hidma, currently in jail, was also associated with the Maoist party. Keshe’s involvement with the group began in her childhood when she was part of Chaitanya Natya Mandali, an organization linked to Maoist activities. She officially joined the party in 2016 through the Pamedu LOS Kamala and continued working in the cultural wing under the leadership of Punnem Joga for two years.

In the same year, Maoist leadership assigned Keshe to the Abujhmad region, appointing her as a member of the protection team for Central Committee member Kosa. By 2021, she was promoted to the rank of Area Committee Member. She remained in the protection unit until December 2022 before briefly working in the North Bastar Division, where she married fellow Maoist leader Ramesh, currently in a Chhattisgarh jail. In April 2024, she was appointed as the commander of Kosa’s protection team.

Keshe was involved in two armed encounters, both of which resulted in the deaths of two police officers. Citing health issues and declining public support for the Maoist ideology, she chose to surrender. She was also influenced by the Telangana government's rehabilitation scheme for surrendered Maoists and the assurances given by Warangal police officials regarding assistance and cooperation after her surrender.

Warangal Police Commissioner Ambar Kishore Jha confirmed that Keshe had a reward of Rs. 4 lakh on her head, as declared by the state government.
