Book on Medaram Jatara Released
Hyderabad: A publication titled “Goddess of Folk” on the famous Medaram Jatara was released by Rural Development Minister Dr. D. Anasuya. The book has been brought out by the Kakatiya Heritage Trust and the release function was held at Jyotiba Phoole Praja Bhavan.
The book was compiled by noted filmmaker B Narsing Rao and features rare photographs capturing the spirit of the festival. Among those present at the event were retired IAS officers B.P. Acharya and B.V. Papa Rao, former NIT Professor Panduranga Rao, K. Sridhar and retired DGP M. Ratan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the efforts of the Trust in documenting the rich cultural heritage of the festival. She urged the Trust to prepare a comprehensive proposal seeking UNESCO recognition for the Samakka Saralamma Jatara as an Intangible World Heritage event, highlighting its immense cultural and spiritual significance.
