59th Engineers’ Day Celebrated at KITS Warangal


Warangal: The 59th Engineers’ Day was celebrated at the Silver Jubilee Seminar Hall on the KITS Warangal campus with a technical talk on the theme, “Engineering Excellence for a Sustainable and Technologically Sovereign India.” The programme was jointly organised by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW), and the Institution of Engineers (India)–Warangal Local Centre.
The event was organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna awardee and renowned Indian engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, whose contributions to engineering and nation-building continue to inspire generations.
The chief guest, Prof. Maheshwarapu Sydulu, Retired Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, NIT Warangal, emphasised the importance of communicating scientific and technical knowledge in the mother tongue to develop scientific temper and technical skills among students. He said that both textbook knowledge and practical exposure are essential for effective designing and planning. He also stressed the importance of integrated engineering skills, particularly in construction engineering, and said that logical thinking is a fundamental skill for developing engineering capabilities.
Guest of Honour Prof. L. Anjaneyulu, FIE, Chairman, Institution of Engineers (India), Warangal Local Centre, observed that “science is about knowing, while engineering is about doing.” He said that true engineering education transforms ideas and dreams into reality. Engineers, he added, have a vital role in transforming society into a sustainable environment and addressing complex challenges faced by communities.
Prof. Anjaneyulu also called upon engineers and students to draw inspiration from Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya and work towards eliminating corruption at the grassroots level.
Former Rajya Sabha MP and KITSW Chairman Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer Sri P. Narayana Reddy, former MLA and KITSW Additional Secretary Shri Vodithala Satish Kumar, and Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy congratulated and appreciated the EEE Department for successfully organising the Engineers’ Day programme.
The event was attended by Dr. P. Muralidhar, FIE, Honorary Secretary, IE(I), Warangal Local Centre; Dr. R. Shankaraiah, Joint Honorary Secretary, IE(I), Warangal Local Centre; Prof. Soora Narasimha Reddy, Dean, Academic Affairs; Dr. M. Narasimha Rao, Professor and Head, EEE; faculty members Dr. B. Vijay Kumar and Dr. G. Sunil Kumar; Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, Associate Professor of Chemistry and PRO; along with faculty, staff and around 200 students.
