Dubai to Open World’s Longest 24-Karat Gold Walkway

Dubai: Dubai is planning to open the world’s longest gold walkway at Dubai Gold District within the next two months. The walkway, made of 24-karat gold, is expected to become a new tourist attraction in the city.

Rashid Al Harmoudi, Senior Director of the Commercial Sector at Dubai Gold District, announced the project while speaking at an event celebrating two Guinness World Records for a pair of gold earrings. He said the walkway would allow visitors and tourists to walk along a golden path and experience a new attraction in the district.

According to Al Harmoudi, the project is part of Dubai’s efforts to strengthen its position as an international tourism destination and a major centre for gold trading.

The announcement comes as Dubai celebrates two world records for a pair of traditional Indian gold earrings known as Jhumkas. Named “Sahasra Mile,” meaning “A Thousand Peacocks,” the earrings were inspired by the peacock, which holds cultural significance in India.

The 22-karat gold earrings weigh 16.514 kilograms net and have been recognised by Guinness World Records as the heaviest pair of gold earrings and the largest pair of earrings in the world. Their weight is more than five times that of the previous record-holding pair.

The earrings were handcrafted over several months by skilled artisans of Joyalukkas. Joy Alukkas, Chairman of the Joyalukkas Group, said Guinness World Records had officially recognised both achievements.

The earrings will not be offered for sale. Instead, they will be preserved as works of art and permanently displayed in Dubai.

Dubai Gold District is also planning an exhibition aimed at becoming the largest gold and jewellery trade exhibition in the Middle East.

The district has reported growth in business activity this year. Since the beginning of 2026, the number of wholesale gold trading offices starting operations in the district has increased by 20%. New stores dealing in gold, jewellery, precious stones and luxury watches have also increased by 15%.
