Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science Warangal (KITSW) celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm on March 14, 2026, at the Auditorium (NLR Shed) on the institute campus. The programme was organised by the Women Empowerment Cell for Women of KITSW.
The event was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. G. Shamitha, Professor in the Department of Zoology at Kakatiya University, along with guest speaker Dr. M. Sailaja, Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at National Institute of Technology Warangal, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shamitha emphasised that self-motivation is the key to success and encouraged students to face life’s uncertainties with confidence. She urged them to draw inspiration from remarkable personalities such as Sudha Murty, Kalpana Chawla, Kiran Bedi, and Ayyalasomayajula Lalitha. She said engineers play a vital role in solving real-world problems through creativity and innovation for the benefit of society. She also stressed the importance of girls protecting their dignity while striving for equal opportunities.
Guest speaker Dr. Sailaja highlighted the importance of adopting cost-effective and eco-friendly technologies for sustainable development. She noted that women are capable of leadership through courage and determination. Pointing out that global leadership positions are still dominated by men, she encouraged women to invest their time in developing useful skills and competencies.
Presiding over the programme, KITSW Principal K. Ashoka Reddy advised young engineering students to remain connected to Indian culture and heritage to maintain a balanced and meaningful life.
The event was organised under the leadership of Women Empowerment Cell Chairperson Dr. K. Sowjanya, Assistant Professor, ECED, and Convenor Smt. V. Gouthami, Assistant Professor, CSED. Faculty members Prof. K. Shivani, Prof. M. Srilatha, Prof. K. Sridhar, Prof. P. Niranjan and PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary also participated.
Student coordinators A. Reethika Chowdary, M. Smarana, A. Sreeshna, R. Sai Sanjana Reddy, K. Sahaswi and A. Nagadeepa played a key role in organising the programme. Around 120 faculty members and more than 200 girl students actively participated, making the event a grand success.
