Seminar on ‘World Water Day’ Held at KITS Warangal


Warangal: A seminar on “World Water Day” under the theme “Water and Gender” was organized at the Civil Seminar Hall of Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science Warangal (KITSW) on Wednesday.
The event was jointly conducted by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) of KITSW in association with the The Institution of Engineers (India), Warangal Local Centre.
Addressing the gathering, guest speaker Prof. N. V. Umamahesh, Professor (HAG), Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology Warangal, emphasized the crucial link between water resources, women, and gender equality. He highlighted the need for sustainable water management, integrated river basin planning, and achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“Water is the driving force of life, and rivers must be managed using the best engineering practices for the benefit of society,” he said, stressing the importance of ensuring safe drinking water for all while promoting gender equality.
Presiding over the event, Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy remarked that such seminars play a key role in creating awareness among students about sustainable development. The session was highly interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions and raising questions.
Former Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of KITSW Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy, and Additional Secretary and former Husnabad MLA Vodithala Satish Kumar appreciated the EEE department for successfully organizing the seminar.
The programme witnessed the presence of Prof. L. Anjaneyulu (Chairman, IE(I), WLC), Prof. P. Muralidhar (Honorary Secretary), Head of the Department Dr. M. Narsimha Rao, PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, faculty coordinators Dr. B. Vijay Kumar, Dr. C. Pavan Kumar, and Dr. G. Sunil Kumar, along with faculty members and around 200 students.
