TSHRC Orders Immediate Restoration of water, Power to Dalit Families in Hanumakonda


Compliance Review Scheduled for March 9, 2026

The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TSHRC), headed by Dr. Justice Shameem Akther, has issued interim recommendations in S.R. Nos. 593 and 663 of 2026 following complaints filed by 30 Scheduled Caste residents of Cherabanda Raju Nagar in Hanumakonda.

The complainants alleged unlawful disconnection of drinking water supply, threats of demolition, and caste-based discrimination despite possessing valid house-site pattas. The Commission observed that such actions amount to violations of constitutional guarantees of equality and the right to life with dignity.

The Commission directed the District Collector, Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, and TG-NPDCL to immediately restore water and electricity supply and to refrain from taking any coercive eviction measures.

The Commissioner of Police, Warangal, has been advised to prevent caste-based intimidation and ensure protection to the affected families. The Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, Telangana, have been instructed to monitor compliance and submit reports.

The matter has been posted for compliance review on March 9, 2026.

The complaint was presented before the Commission by MLC Dr. Dasoju Shravan Kumar, along with Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, Gellu Srinivas Yadav, Advocate Venugopal Rao, T. Balu (BRSV Vice President), Vishweshwar of the BRS Legal Cell, and others.
