Hyderabad,19 Octo 2023:
Tempers flared in Telangana's political arena as Revanth Reddy,  president of Congress party from the state, took offense to recent comments by K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) regarding Rahul Gandhi and his family's legacy. Reddy firmly stated that KTR's stature should not be compared to that of the Gandhi family, emphasizing the sacrifices made by Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and the significant role they have played in India's history.

In a scathing rebuke, Revanth Reddy adressing Public Meeting at Peddapalli, pointed out that Rahul Gandhi, scion of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, has shown a remarkable commitment to public service. He noted that Rahul Gandhi has consistently advocated for the welfare of downtrodden citizens, embarking on extensive padayatras (foot marches) across the length and breadth of the country, from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.

Highlighting the historical contributions of the Nehru-Gandhi family, Reddy pointed out that their legacy is marked by public service and sacrifices. He mentioned that Motilal Nehru, Rahul Gandhi's great-grandfather, donated his property to the government. Furthermore, he underscored the role of Sonia Gandhi, the former UPA chairperson and Congress Party President, in the formation of Telangana. Reddy noted that it was Sonia Gandhi's support that played a pivotal role in the creation of the state.

Revanth Reddy didn't hold back, drawing attention to the absence of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) in Parliament when the Telangana bill was passed. He alleged that KCR was inattentive to the historic moment and reportedly drank and slept in a guest house in Delhi while the bill was under discussion.

"Sonia Gandhi deserves credit for the creation of Telangana," Reddy affirmed, adding that while hundreds of youths made sacrifices, today, it appears that only KCR and his family members are reaping the benefits of power, Revanth Reddy observed.

The fiery leader did not mince his words as he demanded that K.T. Rama Rao apologize for his remarks that Revanth Reddy saw as an affront to the legacy of the Nehru-Gandhi family. The exchange has added fuel to the political dynamics in Telangana, raising questions about the role of family legacies in contemporary Indian politics.

This rift between the two leaders highlights the deep-rooted political divisions and the emotional fervor surrounding legacies and political affiliations in the state. The upcoming assembly elections on November 30, 2023, are expected to be closely watched as Telangana's political landscape continues to evolve.
