Central Tourism Minister Kishan Reddy Revives Historical Gems in Warangal and Mulugu Districts
Central Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy embarked on a significant tour across Warangal and Mulugu districts, revitalizing various developmental projects, including the restoration of the historical Thousand Pillar Temple Kalyanamandapam in Hanamkonda and inaugurating buildings at the Sammakka Sarakka Tribal University.
In a momentous ceremony on the eve of Mahashivaratri, Minister Kishan Reddy dedicated the Kalyana Mandapam to Lord Shiva after its meticulous restoration, marking a milestone in preserving cultural heritage.
During his visit, the Minister also paid homage at the renowned UNESCO-recognized Ramappa Temple, participating in sacred rituals to honor the ancient site's significance.
Partaking in the spiritual fervor of the region, Minister Kishan Reddy joined the Shiva Parvatula Kalyanam at the Thousand Pillar Temple, a revered tradition deeply ingrained in local customs. Additionally, he made a reverent visit to the Bhadrakali Temple, accompanied by his wife and daughter, offering prayers in reverence.
The Thousand Pillar Temple Kalyana Mandapam, constructed by the Kakatiyas in the 12th century, had suffered partial collapse two decades ago. After meticulous planning and execution under the Central Archaeology Department, the mandapam's restoration, spanning over 17 years with an investment of 15 crores, culminated in its grand reopening.
Expressing his dedication to preserving cultural treasures, Minister Kishan Reddy emphasized his personal interest in expediting the restoration process. He hailed the administration of the Kakatiya kings and their enduring legacy in architecture and culture, citing the marvel of the Thousand Pillar Temple as a testament to their vision and craftsmanship.
Commending the tireless efforts of sculptors and architects involved in the reconstruction, Minister Kishan Reddy acknowledged the challenges overcome by archaeological engineers in restoring the Kalyana Mandapam to its former glory.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Telangana State Legislature Council Deputy Speaker Dr. Banda Prakash, Warangal Parliament Member Pasunuti Dayakar, Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy, Prof. Pandu Ranga Rao, BJP District President Rao Padmaredddy, and the esteemed Chief Priest of the temple, Gangu Upendra Sharma, among others.
The Minister's visit not only signifies a commitment to heritage preservation but also underscores the rich cultural tapestry and historical significance of the region, resonating with locals and tourists alike.
