Warangal, 25 Nov 24: The Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITSW) in Warangal witnessed the culmination of the Invitational Inter Collegiate Tournament, the KITS Trophy, for both men and women on March 23rd and 24th, 2024. The valedictory celebration, graced by esteemed guests and participants, highlighted the importance of sports in fostering holistic development among students.


The valedictory ceremony, held at the KITS Warangal Play Fields, was honored by the presence of  Vodithala Sateesh Kumar, former MLA of Husnabad constituency and Additional Secretary of KITSW, who attended as the chief guest. Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy expressed gratitude towards the sponsors, the KITSW sports alumni, for their generous support.


Former Rajya Sabha MP and KITSW Chairman, Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, along with KITSW Treasurer  P. Narayana Reddy and Vodithala Sateesh Kumar, commended the Department of Physical Education and congratulated the winners and participants for their dedication and sportsmanship.


Addressing the gathering,  Vodithala Sateesh Kumar emphasized the significance of active participation in sports, stating that beyond victory or defeat, dynamic engagement in sports is crucial for the mental and physical well-being of students. He underscored the role of sports in fostering critical thinking, innovation, and various life and social skills, crucial for holistic development.


Furthermore, Sateesh Kumar urged players to adhere to best practices to enhance their self-esteem and overall performance on and off the field. Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy reiterated the institute's commitment to integrating sports into the curriculum to nurture creativity and interpersonal skills among students.


Dr. M. Srinivas Reddy, Head of the Department of Physical Education, revealed that the tournament saw active participation from 800 players across various disciplines including Table Tennis, Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball, Kabaddi, and Football.


Notable figures such as Prof. Dayanidhi from NIT Warangal, KITS (S) Physical Director Srinivasa Rao, HoD of Physical Sciences & PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, along with deans, heads, faculty, staff, and KITSW sports alumni played pivotal roles in ensuring the success of the tournament.


The event not only showcased athletic prowess but also highlighted the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship, reflecting the ethos of KITS Warangal in promoting holistic development through sports.
