Warangal, Juna 17: The Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS) Warangal kicked off a three-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) on "Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning" today at the institute's Silver Jubilee Seminar Hall. 

The program, scheduled from June 18th to July 8th, 2024, aims to equip faculty members with the latest advancements in AI and ML technologies and prepare them to effectively integrate these fields into the curriculum.

**Industry Experts and Leaders Grace the Inaugural Ceremony**

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. M. Ramakrishnan, Associate Professor of ECE at SRM University, Vijayawada, as the Chief Guest.  Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, Principal of KITS Warangal, presided over the event.  Other dignitaries present included the institute's department heads and esteemed guests  - Former Rajya Sabha MP and KITSW Chairman Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy, and  Vodithala Sateesh Kumar, Former MLA of Husnabad constituency and Additional Secretary of KITSW.


**Focus on Upskilling Faculty for Industry 4.0**


The Chief Guest, Dr. Ramakrishnan, emphasized the program's significance in making faculty members "industry-ready" for the challenges of managing and administering education in the age of Industry 4.0.  He highlighted the crucial role of AI and ML in modern engineering education and the importance of continuous learning and upskilling for educators. A well-designed curriculum in AI and ML, he stated, would be instrumental in shaping future generations of engineers.

**Equipping Faculty to Train the Next Generation**

Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, the Principal of KITS Warangal, delivered the presidential address.  He underscored the program's role in equipping faculty with the necessary tools and techniques to effectively teach AI and ML concepts to students.  This initiative, he asserted, is essential for ensuring that faculty members remain current with the latest advancements in their fields and can prepare students for success in the evolving technological landscape.  

**Program Expected to Benefit Over 150 Participants**

The FDP is designed for faculty members from various engineering departments at KITS Warangal, including CSE, CSN, CSE (AI & ML), IT, ECE, ECI, ME, EEE, and CE.  Over 150 faculty members and staff attended the inaugural ceremony, including deans, department heads, and representatives from the Public Relations department.
