Mulugu District attracts thousands of tourists every weekend, thanks to its natural beauty and historical sites.

The new Collector, Diwakara T.S, is spearheading efforts to further develop the district's tourism potential.


MULUGU, JUNE, 27,2024: Mulugu District, renowned for its eco-tourism potential and UNESCO World Heritage sites like the Ramappa Temple, is witnessing a surge in tourists every weekend. The district's attractions include lakes, waterfalls, and forests, drawing thousands of visitors.


The Laknavaram Lake, nestled among natural forest hills and islands, has become a major tourist hotspot. The Tourism Development Department has enhanced the site with cottages, boats, and other facilities, making it a popular location for TV serial and movie shoots.



The newly appointed District Collector, Diwakara T.S, is focused on further enhancing these tourist attractions. He has established a district-level tourism management committee and, in a special meeting on Wednesday, urged officers to develop innovative ideas to make these tourist spots more appealing.

Collector Diwakara emphasized that the plan of action aims to elevate Mulugu District's position on the tourism map. He noted that the district has significant potential in tourism, which can also create substantial employment opportunities for local youth. He has requested district-level officers to submit department-wise proposals within 15 days.



Officials present at the meeting included DFO Rahul Kishan Jadav, RDO Satyapal Reddy, DRDO Srinivas Kumar, District Tourism Officer Shivaji, Panchayati Raj EE Narayana, Collectorate AO Rajkumar, Irrigation EE Narayana, Superintendent Shiva Kumar, Deputy SO Lakshmi Narayana, and Tourism AE Vijay Kumar.
