KITS Warangal Hosts Expert Talk on Meditation and Well-being
Warangal: The Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW), organized an expert talk on "Harmony and Happiness through Transcendental Meditation" as part of the 6th day of the Student Induction Programme (SIP) for B.Tech. first-year students. The event took place at the New Seminar Hall on campus, announced Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy.
The SIP, running from August 23 to September 2, 2024, includes over 40 activities designed to orient new students.
The session featured Prof. Asit Kumar Khanra from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at NIT Warangal as the chief guest. Prof. Khanra emphasized the benefits of transcendental meditation, which he described as a practice rooted in Vedic culture with the potential to alleviate pain and enhance intellectual abilities, memory, creativity, and sleep quality. He also discussed the role of meditation in promoting mental clarity, focus, and emotional balance.
Prof. Khanra highlighted the connection between music and meditation, noting that music can influence the mind and foster positive mental states. He encouraged students to incorporate meditation and mindfulness into their daily routines.
Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, in his address, urged students to adopt best practices for their future careers and spoke about the importance of Social Empowerment Activities (SEA) and Social Accomplishment Activities (SAA) in the holistic development of students.
In this programme all the HoDs, all the deans, dean academic affairs Prof. K. Venu Madhav, Registrar Prof. M. Komal Reddy, programme Coordinators & HoD of PS, Dr.H. Ramesh Babu, HoD of M&H Dr. K. Shivashankar, faculty in-charges for PG and UG courses: Dr. P. Prabhakar Rao, Dr. R. Srikanth & PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, about 1200 students were present at five venues of KITSW campus in the two successive sessions.
