Inter-Collegiate Tournaments for Men Inaugurated at KITS Warangal



Warangal, September 29, 2024 – The Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal, hosted the grand inaugural ceremony of the Inter-Collegiate Tournaments for Men (Phase-I) under Kakatiya University (KU) at the KITS Warangal campus. The event, organized by the Department of Physical Education, will take place over two days from September 29-30, 2024.


The tournament was inaugurated by the Registrar of KU Warangal, Prof. P. Malla Reddy, who served as the chief guest. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of sports in student life, highlighting how participation can help students manage stress, develop leadership qualities, and enhance decision-making skills. He also encouraged the players to aim for opportunities at the national level, extending his best wishes to the 800 players participating from 34 colleges across the old districts under KU Warangal's jurisdiction, including Adilabad, Khammam, and Warangal.



The event features both indoor and outdoor games, including Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess, Football, Basketball, and Volleyball.


Former Rajya Sabha MP and KITSW Chairman, Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, along with Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy, congratulated the participants and expressed their appreciation for the players' dedication.


Guest of Honour, Prof. Y. Venkaiah, emphasized that winning or losing is part of the game, but the key is participation. He also stressed the importance of physical fitness through yoga and its role in helping youth become healthy citizens, as well as improving communication and interpersonal skills.



KITS Warangal Principal, Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, delivered the presidential remarks, underscoring the integration of sports into the institute’s engineering education. He highlighted the introduction of a one-credit course under the URR24 curriculum focusing on Society Empowerment Activities (SEA) and Self Accomplishment Activities (SAA).


The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including KITSW Administrative Officer Prof. P. Ramesh Reddy, Dr. B. Venkanna, General Secretary of the KU Physical Directors Association, and other key officials and faculty members from various institutions.
