Hyderabad: Revenue, Housing, and Information and Public Relations Minister Mr. Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy emphasized that all government decisions and policies must be centered around the welfare of the people. He urged officials and staff in the revenue department to work collectively and with integrity to ensure that the common people are satisfied. The minister made these remarks during a meeting held at the Secretariat with representatives from five revenue associations on Saturday.

In his address, the minister stated, “Your performance must improve. The way you worked in the past is different from now. If there are any old practices, leave them behind. Work with honesty, dedication, and transparency.” He further added that the revenue department should work with a positive outlook, instilling trust among the people and bringing a good reputation to the government.

He reiterated that the government is employee-friendly, and there are no personal grievances against anyone. The primary focus, he said, is to benefit the poorer sections of society. "In the coming days, we should see a clear transformation in the revenue system. Every rupee and inch of land owed to the government must be collected, and no government land should be encroached upon. Legal actions must be taken firmly to protect government land without compromise. A special legal cell will be set up in the Secretariat's office of the Chief Secretary of Revenue to offer proper guidance and suggestions."

The minister also highlighted that the previous government abolished the VRO and VAO systems without providing proper alternatives, leaving rural areas without a revenue system. He announced the revival of the system, ensuring that each village will have a dedicated revenue officer.

Revenue Chief Secretary Mr. Naveen Mittal, Telangana Employees Joint Action Committee Chairman Mr. V. Lachhi Reddy, TRESA President Mr. Vanga Ravinder Reddy, Telangana State Civil Services Deputy Collectors Association President Mr. K. Chandra Mohan, Telangana Gazetted Officers Association President Mr. Eluri Srinivas, and Telangana Tahsildars Association President Mr. Ramulu were among the attendees.

During the meeting, representatives brought to the minister’s attention various issues, including the continuation of Tahsildars transferred during the election period, promotions for MROs and RDOs, promotion to special grade deputy collectors, permanent office buildings for Tahsildars, and pending vehicle rental payments. They also welcomed the new draft revenue law introduced by the government and requested the minister to consider confirming IAS cadre for deputy collectors who have completed over 13 years of service under the SCS quota.

The minister assured that non-financial issues would be resolved immediately. He also announced a meeting with MRO-level officers on September 29 and with RDOs, additional collectors, and special grade deputy collectors on October 6.
