**Dual Health Insurance Benefit for ESIC Insured Individuals and Nationwide U-WIN Portal Launched**
**Increased Coverage and New Digital Platform Aim to Strengthen India’s Health System**
In a major update to India's health insurance framework, individuals insured under the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) can now access both ESIC and Ayushman Bharat coverage. Unlike many government programs, ESIC premiums are funded by contributions from both employers and employees rather than taxpayer money. This enhancement means that ESIC beneficiaries, along with those holding private health insurance, gain an extra layer of health protection through Ayushman Bharat.
**U-WIN Portal to Streamline Vaccinations**
In the same event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the U-WIN portal, a digital platform designed to manage vaccinations for pregnant women and children across India. Expected to support approximately 2.9 crore pregnant women and 2.6 crore children each year, the U-WIN portal aims to ensure that essential vaccines reach those in need on time. Part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s Universal Immunization Programme, the initiative covers vaccination schedules from birth up to 16 years for 12 preventable diseases.
The U-WIN portal, created as a Made-in-India project, will generate secure digital identities for its beneficiaries, enabling easy access to vaccination records. This will simplify the process for both parents and healthcare providers, helping to monitor immunization schedules effectively. Prime Minister Modi commented, “This platform will ensure that life-saving vaccines reach every mother and child, empowering the next generation.”
**Nationwide Health Awareness Campaign Launched**
In addition to these announcements, Prime Minister Modi introduced “Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan,” a nationwide public health awareness campaign. With a force of 470,000 volunteers, the campaign aims to boost health education across the country and set several Guinness World Records. Through these efforts, the government hopes to create a healthier, more aware India.
