Warangal:
The Inaugural Ceremony of the CHESS CLUB was held at the Indoor Stadium of Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS), Warangal. The club was formally inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr. Sudhir Kodati, Founder of Chess Network and Research & Development Activities, NRI, in association with former MLA and KITS Warangal Additional Secretary, Shri Vodithala Satish Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sudhir Kodati emphasized the importance of promoting chess among students with the slogan, “Let’s spread the joy of chess – Each One, Teach Ten.” He said that active participation in chess helps in improving competitive spirit, intellectual abilities, and positive thinking. He added that chess plays a key role in building a healthy lifestyle among students and encourages them to stay engaged and mentally active.
Former MLA and KITS Warangal Additional Secretary Shri Vodithala Satish Kumar stated that regular involvement in chess enhances intellectual skills and analytical thinking. He said that games and sports are essential in the present education system and contribute to the development of a healthy society.
KITS Warangal Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy said that encouraging youth to play strategic games like chess helps in developing problem-solving skills and stress management. He added that chess provides a fun and engaging learning experience and contributes to overall student development.
Presiding over the programme, Vice President BAT, General Secretary WDBA and Administrative Officer, KITS Warangal, Dr. P. Ramesh Reddy said that students can improve focus, teamwork, learning abilities, winning spirit, and academic performance through chess.
Former Rajya Sabha MP and KITS Warangal Chairman Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer Shri P. Narayana Reddy, former MLA Shri Vodithala Satish Kumar, and Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy congratulated the Chess Club students and faculty.
The programme was attended by KITS Warangal Registrar Prof. M. Komal Reddy, Dr. P. Ramesh Reddy, Head of Physical Education Dr. M. Srinivas Reddy, Associate Professor of Chemistry Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, Chess Game Mentors Dr. D. Venu and Dr. G. Manjusree, PDs Venkat Swamy, Mahesh, Nagaraju, along with 170 students, faculty, and staff.
