Dignitaries Offer Prayers at Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara

Mulugu, January 30:
Several prominent dignitaries on Friday visited the world-famous Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara at Medaram and offered special prayers to the tribal goddesses, fulfilling their vows amid tight security and traditional rituals.

State Governor Sri Jishnu Dev Varma, accompanied by his family members, along with State Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Danashari Anasuya (Seethakka), paid obeisance to the goddesses. State Minister for Endowments Konda Surekha also visited the shrine and offered prayers.

Elected representatives including Member of Parliament Balaram Naik, Pinapaka MLA Payam Venkateshwarlu, Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Ganesh, and Bhupalpally MLA Gandra Satyanarayana participated in the Jatara and performed special pujas.

Political Economic Advisor Nalini Raghuram and Director General of Prisons Soumya Mishra also visited Medaram and fulfilled their vows to the goddesses.

Adding an international presence to the grand tribal festival, British Deputy High Commissioner Gareth Wynn Owen visited the Jatara and offered prayers. On the occasion, Minister Seethakka briefed him about the newly constructed development works at the Gaddelu area and explained the features of the permanent structures developed for the convenience of devotees.

The visit of dignitaries highlighted the spiritual, cultural, and global significance of the Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara, regarded as one of the largest tribal congregations in Asia.
