Warangal, March 16: The valedictory ceremony of the prestigious KITS Trophy-2026 for men and women was held with great enthusiasm at the play fields of Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science Warangal (KITSW). The two-day Invitational Inter-Collegiate Tournament was organized by the Department of Physical Education on March 14 and 15, 2026.
Addressing the gathering, KITSW Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy stated that the tournament witnessed active participation from various colleges and was successfully conducted with the support of KITSW sports alumni.
The valedictory function was graced by former Husnabad MLA and KITSW Additional Secretary Vodithala Satish Kumar as the chief guest. Former Rajya Sabha MP and KITSW Chairman V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy, and other dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the Department of Physical Education and congratulated the winners and runners-up.
Speaking on the occasion, Satish Kumar emphasized that winning or losing is secondary in sports, while active participation is what truly matters. He highlighted the importance of sports in ensuring both physical and mental well-being and noted that participation helps students develop critical thinking, innovation, and social skills. He encouraged players to adopt best practices to achieve their goals.
Guest of honour, Dr. P. Ravikumar, Professor of Physical Education at National Institute of Technology Warangal, stressed that sports play a crucial role in maintaining overall health. He added that integrating sports into the academic curriculum helps enhance creativity, technical competence, and interpersonal skills among students.
The event saw the presence of Administrative Officer Prof. P. Ramesh Reddy, Head of Physical Education Dr. M. Srinivas Reddy, PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, along with deans, heads of departments, faculty members, staff, nearly 800 players, and KITSW sports alumni.
