Warangal, June 14, 2025 — The National Service Scheme (NSS) team of Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW), has been honored with the Governor’s Award for Institutional Highest Blood Donor Motivator for the academic year 2024–25. The award was presented by the Governor of Telangana and President of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad.
This recognition comes as the NSS team from KITS Warangal recorded the highest number of blood units donated to the IRCS during the academic year. Notably, the institute’s NSS unit has won this award for two consecutive years — 2023–24 and 2024–25.
Dr. Ch. Satish Chandra, NSS Program Officer and Associate Professor of Physics, received the award on behalf of the team. He was congratulated by the institute’s management, faculty, and IRCS representatives.
Speaking at the event, Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Varma appreciated the consistent efforts of the students in social service. “Your act of donating blood is not just a gesture, it is a gift of life,” he said. He also praised KITS Warangal students for balancing academic excellence with service to society. “Safe blood is safer for the recipient,” he added, urging others to support the cause under the theme, “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives.”
KITSW Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy announced the award and praised the NSS and SAC student teams for their coordination in organizing large-scale blood donation camps. Former Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of KITSW Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer Sri P. Narayana Reddy, and Additional Secretary & Former MLA Vodithala Sateesh Kumar also conveyed their congratulations.
IRCS Hanamkonda Chairman Dr. P. Vijaychander Reddy, IRCS State Managing Committee Member E. Srinivasa Rao, and other officials were present at the ceremony.
KITSW Registrar Prof. M. Konal Reddy, Dean of Student Affairs Prof. M. Srilatha, Associate Dean Dr. M. Narsimha Rao, and PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary extended their best wishes to Dr. Ch.
