Warangal, August 8, 2026: Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW) organized an orientation programme for newly admitted B.Tech first-year students of the 2026-27 academic year at the KITSW campus on Saturday.
KITSW Chairman and former Rajya Sabha MP Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy, former Husnabad MLA and KITSW Additional Secretary Vodithala Satish Kumar, Governing Body members E. Venkatram Reddy and A. Harish, and other management members congratulated the newly joined students and wished them success in their academic journey.
Speaking at the programme, KITSW Chairman Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao said that knowledge, competencies and skills are important in 21st-century education. He said the institute has introduced a competency-focused Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum covering technical and generic competencies.
He said the objective is to develop engineering knowledge, skills, values and attitudes among students. He encouraged students to apply the knowledge they gain in practical situations and develop their skills. He also stressed the importance of ethics, character and responsible citizenship.
KITSW Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy said the newly admitted 2026-30 batch would complete its engineering course in 2030 and would be part of the institute’s Golden Jubilee year. He advised students to remain self-motivated and committed to their studies. He also encouraged them to spend more time developing their skills rather than being dependent on mobile phones.
KITSW Additional Secretary and former Husnabad MLA Vodithala Satish Kumar advised students to stay away from bad habits and focus on consistent efforts. He said regular efforts are important for achieving success. He also highlighted the importance of communication skills and participation in extracurricular activities through the Student Activity Centre (SAC).
He said KITSW has introduced dual-degree options, along with additional learning opportunities through honours and minor programmes. Heads of various engineering departments gave presentations on the laboratories, equipment and academic facilities available to students. The departments include ECE, ECV (Design & Technology), Mechanical, Civil, EEE, CSE, CSN, CSE (AI & ML), CSE (IoT), CSC (Cyber Security) and IT. The institute stated that all these departments have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi.
KITSW Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy said faculty members are committed to teaching and mentoring students. He advised students to improve their programming skills through regular coding practice, including platforms such as LeetCode. He also stressed the need for effective communication skills along with technical knowledge.
He said the institute’s goal is to make its students AI-ready, Quantum-ready and future-ready by 2030. He advised students to focus on developing competence, character and confidence during their engineering education.
The programme was attended by Governing Body members E. Venkatram Reddy and A. Harish, Registrar Prof. M. Komal Reddy, Administrative Officer Prof. P. Ramesh Reddy, Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. Soora Narasimha Reddy, Heads of various departments, programme coordinators, deans, faculty members and staff.

Around 3,000 students, parents, faculty and staff participated in the morning and afternoon sessions.
