The Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW), echoed with the vibrant cheers and spirited enthusiasm as it hosted its Thirty Fifth Annual Sports Day-2024. The grand event, held at the institute's play fields, was a testament to the significance of sports in academia and personality development.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including the chief guest Commissioner of Income Tax, Gurgaon and Faridabad, B. Srinivas Kumar IRS, along with guest of honors KiksaAR's Chief Business Officer and Co-founder, Kiran Lakkapragada, and Statistics Officer of the Supreme Court of India, Ms. Himani Sarad. Rajya Sabha former MP and KITSW Chairman Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, KITSW Treasurer P. Narayana Reddy, Management member Sri E. Ramreddy, and other distinguished guests.
B. Srinivas Kumar emphasized the multifaceted benefits of sports, stressing its role in fostering personality development and resilience. He urged students to embrace sportsmanship as a lifelong pursuit, enriching both personal and professional endeavors.
Principal Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy underscored the integral role of sports in education, noting its contribution to skill development and problem-solving abilities. He highlighted KITSW's commitment to fostering a balanced environment where sports and academics harmonize to nurture well-rounded individuals.
In his presidential remarks, Rajya Sabha former MP and KITSW Chairman Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao emphasized the correlation between sports participation and leadership development, essential for engineers contributing to societal welfare.
Administrative Officer Prof. P. Ramesh Reddy revealed that the academic year 2023-2024 witnessed over 40 sports and games events, culminating in the distribution of 12 trophies and 561 medals to deserving winners.
Dr. M. Srinivas Reddy, Head of the Physical Education Department, shed light on the institute's commitment to promoting sports inclusivity through intramural competitions for various student cohorts.
The event saw the presence of numerous dignitaries, faculty members, staff, and over a hundred students, accompanied by their proud parents, creating an atmosphere brimming with camaraderie and sportsmanship.
