Inaugural Ceremony Marks Commencement of One Week Faculty Development Program "Quantum Enabled Science and Technology-QUEST-2024" at KITS Warangal


The Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS) Warangal witnessed the inauguration of a significant event, the One Week Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “Quantum Enabled Science and Technology-QUEST-2024". The event, organized by the Department of Physical Sciences (PS) in association with the Centre for Training and Learning (CTL) at NIT Warangal, commenced on May 20, 2024, and is scheduled to run until May 24, 2024.

The ceremony was graced by esteemed personalities, including Dr. G. Mallikarjuna Rao, Technology Director and Scientist G at Hyderabad DRDO Research Centre, who served as the Chief Guest. Prof. T. Kishore Kumar, Professor of ECE & Head CTL NIT Warangal, and Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, Principal of KITS Warangal, were also present as Guests of Honour.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. G. Mallikarjuna Rao emphasized the significance of advancements in quantum-enabled technologies, highlighting the program's focus areas, which include Quantum Computing, Nanostructured Thin Films, and Quantum Optics, among others. He stressed the importance of upskilling and commitment among teachers to effectively impart knowledge in this domain.


Prof. T. Kishore Kumar elaborated on the objectives of the FDP, aimed at empowering participants to leverage Quantum Science and Technologies in their academic and professional pursuits. He outlined seven essential skills of quantum mechanics and emphasized the role of Quantum AI in modern engineering education.


The event also saw discussions on the ongoing efforts to train faculty members under the PMMMNMTT Scheme, with plans to extend the initiative to benefit a larger cohort of educators. Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy reiterated the importance of quality education and the role of skilled teachers in achieving this goal.


Among the dignitaries present were Prof. M. Komal Reddy, Registrar of KITS Warangal, department heads, administrative staff, and faculty members, who collectively contribute to the success of the FDP.


The inaugural ceremony marked the beginning of an enriching week-long program aimed at fostering excellence in teaching and research in the field of Quantum Enabled Science and Technology.
