Mulugu, June 26, 2024:The District Collector of Mulugu,  Divakara T.S., IAS, has issued suspension orders for  M. Nagendra, Senior Assistant in the office of the District Welfare Officer (WCD & SC). The suspension follows Nagendra's failure to properly arrange the "International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking" event on June 26, 2024.

According to the Director of the WCD & SC Department, all district headquarters were instructed to celebrate this important day by involving public representatives, police, excise, medical, and education department officials, among others. An amount of Rs. 30,000 was allocated for creating awareness, which included the release of posters, pamphlets, and a public pledge against drug abuse.

Nagendra, who was responsible for organizing the event in Mulugu, failed to arrange essential items such as T-shirts, caps, posters, pamphlets, and refreshments for the program. Consequently, his performance was deemed unsatisfactory.

Invoking the powers under Rule 8 of the Telangana Civil Services (CCA) Rules, 1991, as adopted in 2016, the District Collector placed Nagendra under suspension effective immediately. During this period, Nagendra is required to remain at the headquarters and may not leave without prior permission. He is eligible for subsistence allowance under Rule 53 of the Fundamental Rules.

The suspension will remain in effect until the conclusion of the disciplinary proceedings.
