WARANGAL District Table Tennis Tournament-2024 Kicks Off at KITS Warangal


The WARANGAL District Table Tennis Tournament-2024 was officially launched on September 14, 2024, at the Indore Stadium on the Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITS) Warangal campus. The event, organized by the Warangal District Table Tennis Association (WDTTA), will continue through September 15, 2024.

The tournament was inaugurated by Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, Principal of KITS Warangal. In his opening remarks, Prof. Reddy emphasized the importance of technical skills in table tennis, including hand grip, ready position, footwork, service, and strokes. He highlighted that sports play a crucial role in maintaining physical health and mental well-being. He also noted that KITSW has introduced a credit course in its new B.Tech. curriculum to promote overall student development.

WDTTA President Akarapu Harish also spoke at the ceremony, underscoring that table tennis is a valuable social sport. He stressed that participation is key and that the sport enhances mental agility and balance.

The tournament features six categories across two days, including Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 for both girls and boys, as well as categories for men and women. A total of 130 participants, representing 47 teams, are competing in the event.

Among the attendees were  KITSW Doctor, Ophthalmologist, Dr. R. Susmitha, KITSW administrative officer, Prof. Pingili Ramesh Reddy, WDTTA General Secretary and Head, department of physical education, Dr. M. Srinivas Reddy, the guest of honor, WDTTA Joint secretary, Ajmeera Jay Singh and Sri. K. Sunil Kumar, , executive members, K.Venkataswamy, Mahesh all the heads, all the deans, faculty, staff and Associate professor of Chemistry & PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, 150 above players and students were present.
