KITS Warangal Hosts Inaugural Ceremony of KITS Trophy Tournament
Warangal, March 1, 2025: The Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science, Warangal (KITSW) has launched the inaugural edition of the KITS Trophy, a professional-collegiate sports tournament for men and women. The event, organized by the Department of Physical Education, is scheduled to take place on March 1st and 2nd at the KITS Warangal playfields.
The tournament was inaugurated by Hanamkonda District Youth & Sports Officer and Indian Wrestling Team Coach, G. Ashok Kumar, at the KITS Warangal Sports Complex. The event is sponsored by the KITSW sports alumni.
KITSW Chairman, former Rajya Sabha Member Capt. V. Lakshmikantha Rao, Treasurer P.Narayana Reddy, and former MLA & KITSW Additional Secretary Shri Vodithala Sateesh Kumar congratulated the department of physical education and encouraged the participating players.
Speaking at the event, Chief Guest G. Ashok Kumar emphasized the importance of sports alongside academics, especially for students from professional institutions like engineering and medical colleges. He highlighted the benefits of physical activities in fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity, memory, and social skills. He encouraged students to participate actively with a winning spirit and stressed that determination and decision-making are key to success.
KITSW Administrative Officer, Prof. P. Ramesh Reddy, noted that the tournament would help uncover hidden talent and boost players' confidence. He urged students to take full advantage of the sports facilities for their physical and mental well-being.
KITSW Principal, Prof. K. Ashoka Reddy, delivered the presidential address, announcing that over 400 students from various professional colleges under GWMC's jurisdiction are participating in the tournament. The two-day event features five sports: Basketball (Men & Women), Badminton (Men & Women), Volleyball (Men & Women), Kabaddi (Men), and Football (Men).
The inaugural event was attended by Head of the Department of Physical Education, Dr. M. Srinivas Reddy, Associate Professor of Chemistry & PRO Dr. D. Prabhakara Chary, faculty members, deans, department heads, PED faculty members Venkataswamy, Mahesh, and Nagaraju, as well as staff and KITSW sports alumni.
