Hyderabad, Telangana: Chief Secretary Shri K. Ramakrishna Rao unveiled the Coffee Table Book “Jewels of Asaf Jahis – The Glory of Warangal”, authored by Kannekanti Venkata Ramana, Joint Director in the Information & Public Relations Department.
The book launch took place at a special event held in the Chief Secretary’s chamber at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. Smt. C.H. Priyanka, Special Commissioner, I&PR Department, also graced the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary praised the author for producing a work of historical significance while fulfilling his duties as a Public Relations Officer. He noted that the book highlights the architectural grandeur of monuments built during the Asaf Jahi rule in Warangal and provides detailed accounts of the Subedars who administered the region. He added that it would serve as a valuable resource for history researchers and aspirants of competitive examinations.

While Warangal is celebrated for its Kakatiya heritage — including the Thousand Pillar Temple, Warangal Fort, and Bhadrakali Temple — the city also boasts remarkable structures from the Nizam era, such as the Kazipet Railway Station and the Dharmasagar Filter Bed, which now forms part of the Mission Bhagiratha drinking water project.

During the Asaf Jahi period, the Warangal Subah encompassed areas from present-day Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, and parts of Khammam. The book delves into the contributions of the Subedars who governed these regions and features captivating photographs of Nizam-era architectural marvels.
“Jewels of Asaf Jahis – The Glory of Warangal” stands as an insightful chronicle for students, historians, and heritage enthusiasts eager to explore Telangana’s rich historical and cultural legacy.
