Radio talk on recent test match between India and England
“The month of Shravana brought cheers to all the Indian cricket fans with the India equalling the almost lost Tendulkar Anderson test series imitating the Tumbler toy”, said Mahesh in his talk with the anchor of the Canberra based radio station www.cmsradio.org on 6th August.
The talk has been quite enlightening with the mention of Bharat Arun who has been instrumental in preparing our top class bowlers and also the gully cricket the guys of Mahesh generation played and kept alive the spirit of test cricket.
He was all the praise for Shubman Gill’s captaincy, Siraj and almost all the players for springing back from the failures like tumbler toys facing the native- friendly weather against all odds under a young and inexperienced captain.
The ability of Shubman Gill’s to control emotions during ups and downs of the test series shows that he will go a long way as a captain according to the analyst.
Mahesh is an Australian accredited cricket analyst and has been a connoisseur of test cricket all his life.
He was born and brought up in Hyderabad and played cricket in police grounds until the middle class exigencies took him to London and then to Australia for survival. He now lives in Melbourne and rights regularly on cricket.
Mahesh has taken the audience over a nostalgic memory trip of history of test cricket with the mention of India’s progression from continuous losses over decades to registering confident wins against formidable players like Australia, West Indies and England.
Ben Stokes,Root and Smith were showered with deserving accolades by this Hyderabad analyst bringing out their strategies and the intelligent way they have tried to contain India.
The talk ended on a note of caution by Mahesh that this young team should focus on the structure of the team and also record wins on the home ground which will further solidify their confidence and sustain their hard earned recent image.
The anchor has also done good homework in bringing out the best of Mahesh.
The talk reminded me of my school days when the only way to know about cricket was through radio commentary as after decades I listened to radio which made our ears sharp and focus intense.
The present popularity of FM radio channels and particularly this talk has belied the old song “Video killed the radio star.”
Congrats to cmsradio channel for taking the the initiative to start a Telugu FM channel in Australia bringing together the talent of Indians in general and the Telugu guys like Mahesh in particular.
