CM Revanth Reddy Calls for Unity of Southern States on Redistribution

CM Revanth Reddy Press meet on Seat Redistribution and BJP Leadership

Says numbers matter in politics; raises concerns over representation and women’s leadership.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy addressed a press meet and spoke about seat redistribution, political strength, and party leadership.
He said that in seat redistribution, numbers are more important than percentages. According to him, politics is driven by numerical strength, and decisions are made based on numbers. He cited the fall of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government by a single vote as an example.
The Chief Minister stated that states performing well should not be penalized in the redistribution process. He also said that without adequate numbers, political discussions do not take place.
Referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party, he noted that since its formation on April 6, 1980, the party has had 15 presidents but no woman has been appointed to the post so far. He questioned the party’s commitment to women’s representation.
He compared this with the Indian National Congress, stating that it has been led for long periods by leaders like Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. He said the Congress has worked for women over several decades.
Revanth Reddy also criticized comments made by Bandi Sanjay, stating that they are against SC, ST, and women in southern states. He said BJP leaders should speak on women’s leadership only after appointing a woman as party president.
He added that Members of Parliament from Telangana played a role in achieving statehood and would continue to fight on the issue of redistribution. He said efforts would be made to unite southern and smaller states on this matter and that he would write letters to states like Delhi and Punjab.
He further stated that if seat redistribution is done purely on population percentage, leaders like G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay may lose political relevance.
